The base station of Mount Everest now has 3G mobile network services. Ncell, an internet operator in Nepal, said it set up a 3G base at an altitude of 5,200 meters (17,000 feet) near the village of Gorakshep. At 3.5 MB-per-second, the service is targeted at the approximately 30,000 tourists who come to trek in Nepal's Himalayan region every year.
