Google is reportedly developing a third mobile operating system codenamed "Fuchsia". Google developers have confirmed that the company has legitimate plans to develop it further. Reason, why Google may want a new operating system, is that because Android has become hugely fragmented through the millions of third-party devices around the world that run it and it's also an old product.
